A panel discussion with prominent figures from various art institutions in Luxembourg and France, including Tania Brugnoni, Patricia Couvet, Florence Ostende, and Bérénice Saliou. 

The dialogue explores the evolving landscape of contemporary art institutions, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, community engagement, and the challenges posed by growing cultural polarisation. 

Each panelist shares insights into their respective institutions, highlighting their unique missions, funding models, and the role they play in fostering artistic expression and accessibility in the arts. 

The discussion also touches on the significance of storytelling in art and the need for institutions to remain relevant in a rapidly changing cultural environment.

Biographies

Tania Brugnoni has been the director of the Musée national d'archéologie, d'histoire et d'art since 1 January 2025. A graduate in art restoration and conservation, she also holds a specialist certificate in the history of decorative arts, museum studies and the art market. With 17 years of experience as an independent conservator, she has also worked as a cultural coordinator for the City of Differdange. From 2013 to 2024, she served as director of the 1535° Creative Hub where she played a key role in its development, actively contributing to its success story in the field of creative economy innovation. 

Patricia Couvet has been Director of the art center La synagogue de Delme since June 2025. She develops projects at the intersection of the humanities and curatorial practices, spanning exhibitions, public programs, and publications. From 2021 to 2024, she co-directed Pickle Bar, a space dedicated to performative and discursive formats, as well as the residency-mentorship program of the collective Slavs and Tatars in Berlin (DE). In 2025, she was awarded the TextWork writing grant from the Pernod Ricard Foundation. She holds degrees in History and Cultural Heritage Management (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) and in Curatorial Studies (KASK – School of Arts and Conservatory of Ghent).

Florence Ostende is Head of the Artistic Department at Mudam Luxembourg. Previously Curator at Barbican, London, she organized exhibitions including Carrie Mae Weems: Reflections for Now (2023), Noguchi (2021), Michael Clark: Cosmic Dancer (2020), and Francis Alÿs: Ricochets (2024).. She also curated Ugo Rondinone: I Love John Giorno (2015) and Dioramas (2016) at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, and held roles at Dallas Contemporary and HEAD Geneva.

Bérénice Saliou has been Director of FRAC Champagne-Ardenne since May 2025. A graduate of a Master’s degree in Curating from Goldsmiths, University of London, she co-founded the Trankat residency in Tétouan (Morocco), which she directed from 2010 to 2015, while also coordinating international projects for FRAEME at La Friche La Belle de Mai (Marseille). From 2015 to 2022, she served as Artistic Director of the Institut des Cultures d’Islam in Paris, where she developed exhibitions, art productions, and multidisciplinary programming in support of artists from the Global South and non-Western art scenes. In 2022, she co-curated the inaugural exhibition of the Fondation H in Madagascar and directed Documents d’artistes La Réunion (2022–2025), strengthening its editorial focus on increasing visibility for and supporting artists from the Indian Ocean region.
