Gallim Dance is one of New York's leading contemporary dance companies. In this, artistic director Andrea Miller's 10th work for Gallim Dance, she uses her radical physical language and impulsive narrative pace to juxtapose love, sex and domesticity. W H A L E trails the human pursuit to love and be loved, and navigates the expectations, anxiety, and forgiveness surrounding this struggle through moments of emotional vulnerability, sensual abandonment, and spiritual tribulation. Collaborators include live sound design by Jordan Chiolis, and lighting by Nicole Pearce.
In addition to the performances of W H A L E , Andrea Miller and her company will be in creative residence for a week for the development of their new production which will mark the 10th anniversary of Gallim Dance. Over the course of the week the company will conduct master-classes, hold open rehearsals and present an exclusive preview of the work in its developmental process on Sunday 29th January.
» Almost unbearable cravings alternating with giddy flesh contact. Howling, dragging, hurtling through the air. A celebration of awkwardness... [Miller's] got her own unstoppable zing. Dance Magazine, Wendy's Best of 2015, Wendy Perron
