GPS-Workshop für Wanderer und Radfahrer
GPS-workshop for hikers and cyclists
November 26th, 2016
How do GPS devices function for hikers, cyclists and geocaches? How do you download tours onto your own PC? Which kinds of devices and software are required?
Our workshop at the youth hostel in Beaufort on November 26th will answer all of these questions and aims at preparing you for upcoming tours through the optimal usage of GPS devices. Outdoor-GPS devices have become an essential tool for hikers, cyclists, mountain bikers and geocaches. And unlike with a car, the handling of GPS devices for outdoor activities requires careful planning, especially given that one rarely plans on simply seeking the quickest route from A to B, but instead aims at taking the most attractive and suitable path available.
The course will introduce you to the basics of GPS as well as putting theory into practice. Those participants who don’t possess their own Outdoor-GPS device can borrow one for the day. Aside from teaching you how to plan a tour on your PC as well as the basics of cartography, you will also receive an overview over the different sorts of devices as well as software options available.
