385th Bomb Group Memorial Museum
The museum « 385th Bomb Group Memorial Museum » in Perlé shows visitors aircraft parts, uniforms and documents in relation with the tragic midair collision of 2 B-17 bombers in 1944. On July 12th 1944, “Off Spring” and “Curley’s Kid’s” collided over Perlé and crashed, 18 of the 20 crewmembers did not survive.
Items and artefacts are collected and shown with a lot of engagement and know-how, some are really rare pieces. The museum also shows items in general connection with WWII and a section is dedicated to the actual US Air Force. Just a few steps away from the museum, opposite the church, is located the monument in memory of the 8th Air Force / 385th Bomb Group / 100th Bomb Group.
